I still don't have a camera and I'm running out of pitchers. But I'll look again.
Ha I've got something to tell you. Now I think I'm a purity good person I'm friendly and I'm in tune with other peoples problems But today wile at the gas station I run into a friend well not really a friend I see him in passing a few times a year. I don't even know his name. But it's always "hi how are you" "fine how are you" Or "hi been fishing" "no but the weather is nice". You have that kind of friends to I'm shear, But today I say "HI how she going". And low and behold first sentence out of his mouth is His father just died, his fourteen year old daughter is pregnant and his wife left him. Woow what do you say to that. I was in a hurry I didn't have time for this and I'm ashamed to say I really didn't care. But being the nice guy that I am I say "gee that's to bad" but he keeps going on and on. I finally say "well I got to go". and leave as fast as I can. So the question is this ((( am I wrong for not caring and fleeing ))) or (((was he wrong for dumping his problems on me instead of just saying, "fine nice day isn't it".)))

A fourteen year old pregnant!?! thats too bad. way way sad. I had a similar situation today, and unfortunately I was trapped. I listened and sympathized but, if I had had the chance I would have ran for the hills also! I think some times, people should just keep it to themselves, especially to a casual acquaintance...
I agree with Sulli, after the new year i asked a casheir gal at the grocery store how her new year was starting off, just a small talk question while ringing me up, she replied, "not good" (oh oh) "My sister has breast cancer and my brother in law just had a heart attack". (gulp) "I`m sorry", grabbing my groceries, "hope things get better", tripping over my feet to get out the store, dang
well if any one cares all u have to say is hi nothing more do not ask any more if u do not want to know anything.simple as that.
OOHh kay are you sure you want my 2 cents worth?/ Hahaha..
i tend to be a little more umm the compassionete side for lack of a better word. I think that all in all I give people there time. and honestly i don't think that they have wasted my time..if your in a hurry..well your in a hurry..as i know I sometimes am running late and just have to go...And I know quite a few years back there was these two special people that took time out for me and I'll never forgit it. Our days are busy..but it could be the one time you change someones life as those 2 people did mine!! ;)
you are right jetti in most circumstances one should give people the time, but in this situation, it was a check out line at a grocery store, people behind me, waiting, and that is really not the time to get into a deep conversation of such personal issues, had i been walking down the street, and stuck up a conversation, that is one thing. So i guess the saying is true .....there is a time and place for everything
I believe there is a time and place for personal talk...to a point. At work about 60 times a day I HAVE to say "and how are you", although I have to say that I also have to keep the chit chat to a very low minimum so when I do get the people that say my wife left me or my house cought fire or I have cancer, and I get those calls a lot. I have to be polite and say I'm sorry and then try to move on and I can not let the person get carried away with telling me their problems. I do feel very bad for some of these people because they just need to talk but I can't talk with these people for more than a few minutes because I ALWAYS have other people waiting for me to help them...and my phone calls are recorded and I get in trouble for haveing conversations longer than a few minutes about personal things. So although I wish I could, like Jettied says, listen to these people, I just can't, Like mn mom says. And like Just little ol' me says I HAVE TO ASK. So dad I think if you were really in a hurry and couldn't talk you did the right thing.
here is an example, I just got off the phone with someone whos wanted help taking his wifes (who is 58) IRA out now because she has terminal cancer and they want to take it out now to enjoy it a litte rather than wait. What do you say to that?
Yes that is a good way of putting it there is a place and time for everything!! I bought some fabric once by the time I left I knew that ladies life story..she had 14 kids, husband died early on and on and on and do you know to this day she always smiles and says hi she hasn't really ever talked about it all again. Jeff suggested keeping counslers cards and handing them out when needed...hahahahahahahha
And Bec I know when I worked at igi key too it was the same.. and I think that is different it's your job.I have always known Auntie & Uncle to be nothing but nice so evan if you were like oohhh*%$#..I bet they didn't evan notice!! Have a great day!!
gesse dad your slacking off.
